Melanie Law

She worked as an editor for almost 15 years in England, including for Harper's Bazaar UK. Melanie returned to Quesnel in 2017 and began instructing at CNC in 2019. 

What do you want potential students to know about the Quesnel campus? 

Our instructors are well-educated and our class sizes are small, which means we offer high-quality education in a friendly, supportive environment. We get to know our students, which helps us tailor lessons to best help students reach their post-secondary goals. 

What inspired you to become an instructor?

When I worked as an editor, I always enjoyed helping shape writing projects into the best they can be. As an instructor, I feel I’m still doing that, but in a different, more foundational way.

What is most rewarding for you about being an instructor?

It’s most rewarding when I can help students see that they are writers. Many students think that they “can’t” write, or that it’s one of their weaker skills. I strive to help students see that academic writing is just one way to express themselves. Students already have a lot of skill and expertise in writing. Academic writing is simply a different way to shape those messages for a particular audience.
