The CNC dental clinic runs from September through May. Patients are seen throughout the school year by the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting students. Clinic times vary each semester depending on course scheduling. The clinic is not open on weekends. Adult patients are seen throughout the September-to-May school year and children are seen mainly in April and May.

Communicable Disease Safety

The top priority of CNC’s dental clinic is to provide a safe experience for everyone. We have developed a safety plan to protect the health and safety of patients. We ask for your help in following these rules for your safety, and that of fellow patients, students and instructors. 

Dental patients are asked to:

  • Complete a patient screening one day prior to attending the clinic
  • Complete a patient screening upon arrival, but before entering the clinic
  • Sanitize your hands upon entry to the clinic

Patient Duties

Our clinic patients are very appreciated and valued as it does require a significant time commitment to become a patient here. The students need reliable, committed patients in order to fulfill their requirements for graduation.

  • A cleaning will take several appointments depending on the degree of difficulty and appointments can be between one to three hours long.
  • Parking is provided for our patients if they park in our dental parking lot and provide us with their name and license plate number.
  • We ask that patients arrive on time for their appointments and pay the nominal fee at the first appointment.
  • 48 hour notice is required if a patient needs to change or cancel their appointment.

You or your child(ren) will receive an oral health assessment (which consists of an oral cancer screening exam and charting of existing oral conditions); X-rays as needed or requested by your dentist/dental office; and preventive oral health services such as scaling/root planing (scraping of teeth), polishing and fluoride applications. You may also receive education/information regarding tobacco cessation and diet counselling. All patients receive oral hygiene instruction.

When booking your appointment, you can request a specific student; however, depending on that student’s schedule and patient workload, you may not be able to see that student. However, there will be other students who can see you.

The duration of preventive oral health services will depend on how long you have been away from professional oral care and your treatment needs. You can expect to see your student for several appointments, each lasting 2-3 hours. Once your oral assessment is complete, your student will provide you with an estimate of the number of appointments required to complete your treatment.

No. We are not intended to replace dental care that you receive at your dental office. You are strongly encouraged to see your dentist for needed dental treatment.

We are located at the College of New Caledonia, 3330 22nd Avenue in Prince George. The dental clinic is at the back of the building.

All work performed by the student is monitored and evaluated by highly educated faculty members.

You can park in the designated parking lot right outside the dental building. You need to remember your license plate so we can inform IMPARK that you are a patient at the dental clinic, so you do not receive a ticket.

Yes. There is a bus stop within walking distance (about 5 mins) to the entrance to the dental building.

Whether you see a dental hygiene or dental assisting student depends on when you want to receive treatment, whether you are an adult or a child (18 years of age and under) and the extent of the treatment required. Dental assisting students typically start treating patients in March, while dental hygiene students treat patients starting in September.
