Open Educational Resources (OERs) are freely accessible, openly licensed materials that are useful for teaching, learning, and research. Our library supports the use of OERs to enhance your courses and reduce costs for students.

eReserves

eReserves are digital course materials—such as book chapters, articles, and other readings—made available to your students through your Moodle course. While the system itself does not check for copyright compliance, submitting your materials through eReserves allows librarians to review and ensure your readings are shared in a copyright-compliant way. It’s an efficient, organized method for providing access to your course packet materials and any additional readings throughout the semester.

How to Request eReserves 

1. Fill out the eReserves request form.
   •  As part of the form, you’ll be asked to upload your PDFs or other course files. 
   • Faculty are expected to comply with copyright laws. Before clicking 'Submit', ensure that you've read the copyright compliance statement and check the box to indicate that you understand and have made reasonable efforts to ensure that you are in compliance with copyright.

2. Watch for confirmation

   • Once your request is processed, you’ll receive an email letting you know your files have been added to your Moodle course under the “eReserves” section.

3. Enable eReserves in Moodle

   • Go to your Moodle course and switch to Edit mode.
   • Click “+Add an activity or resource.”
   • Select “External tool.”
   • Enter a name (e.g., Course Readings or eReserves).
   • Under Preconfigured tool, choose Automagic.
   • Click Save and display to check that all your readings appear correctly. 

That’s it—easy, organized, and instructor-approved.
