Transferring Credits from CNC to another institution
If you have applied to another institution and would like to transfer your credits from CNC, follow these steps:
Make sure you ask them about the transfer credit review process.
Most post-secondary institutions will not assess transfer credit until you have applied or been accepted.
Official transcripts can be requested online through your CNC Connect account or in person at the Office of the Registrar. Most post-secondary institutions require the transcript to be sent directly to them from CNC. Please refer to the receiving institution for details regarding where to send the transcript.
If the receiving institution requires course outlines to evaluate transfer credit.

- Graduates of CNC Accounting & Finance Diploma who have been accepted into the Bachelor of Business Administration program will receive the following Block Transfer credits and will be required to complete the identified number of bridging courses for the following concentrations:

- Entrepreneurship & Innovation: 48 credits for block transfer, additional 4 bridging courses required.

Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices
- Students who have successfully completed all the courses in CNC's Accounting & Finance Diploma with a GPA of 2.33 (C+) with a minimum grade of "C" on transferred courses will be granted guaranteed admission to the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices degree.
- Students will be given a block transfer up to 57 credits for program completion, and eligible to receive up to 60 credits for additional courses.
- COTR recommends students take the following two electives at CNC seamless pre-requisite entry into their program:
- COM 222 and ENGL 229.

Applied Science Engineering Certificate
In general, courses in this program are expected to be taken at a single institution, although some institutions may be more flexible than others when evaluating transcripts. This level of evaluation generally takes place on a case-by-case basis.
Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering)
This program provides a direct transfer into second year of a Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) at Thompson Rivers University. The following conditions apply:
- Students progressing into the Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering at TRU will be required to successfully complete:
- MATH 1700 - Discrete Mathematics, and
- SENG 1210 - Programming for Engineers II.
at the earliest scheduled date for each course at that institution to validate their transfer.
- Students fully completing the program will receive transfer credit for:
- CHEM 1520 - Principles of Chemistry.
(which is a course that is normally scheduled in Year 2 at TRU.)
- CHEM 1520 - Principles of Chemistry.
- Applicants who have successfully completed all courses within the Applied Science Engineering Certificate at CNC with a minimum TRU GPA of C+ (or TRU GPA of 2.33) and have no courses applicable for transfer with a grade less than a "C" will be guaranteed second year standing within the Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering at TRU.
- Applications from the Applied Science Engineering Certificate must follow all application procedures at TRU, including applying for admission and submitting post-secondary and high school academic transcripts.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Engineering)
The Applied Science Engineering Certificate at CNC provides for a direct transfer into second year Engineering at UNBC. The following conditions will apply:
- Students completing the entire Applied Science Engineering Certificate at CNC within two academic years, no later than 30-April, with a minimum CGPA requirements (reviewed annually) or higher, and no individual course less than a "C-" will be guaranteed placement within the Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) at UNBC.
- Applicants from CNC must follow all application procedures at UNBC, including applying for admission and submitting post-secondary and high school academic transcripts.
- Students completing the entire program will have the UNBC CHEM 100 (General Chemistry I) requirement waived.
- Students transferring through this program and intending on majoring in Environmental Engineering at UNBC will be exempt from UNBC CHEM 101/121 as a pre-requisite for UNBC ENGR 220. Students wishing to take UNBC FSTY 205 and subsequent soil courses (electives within the environmental engineering program) will be required to take UNBC CHEM 101/121 upon transfer.

Bachelor of Applied Science Engineering
Applied Science Engineering Certificate at CNC provides a seamless transfer into second year engineering at UBC-V. The following conditions apply:
- CNC is allocated seats based on the second-year admission capacity of UBC-V. The estimate of this seat capacity for each transfer school will be provided at the annual articulation meeting. This estimate will have effect one year after that reporting out date.
- Provided that the number of students completing the entire program at CNC within two terms (typically eight months), no later than June 30th, and with a minimum CGPA or higher (that is determined by UBC annually), does not exceed the number of allocated seats for a given school, students meeting the CGPA requirement will be guaranteed placement at UBC-V.
- Once all transfer students have been placed under point 2 above, additional admission offers may be made under that condition provided seat capacity at UBC-V remains.
- All students (transfer or direct entry) will compete equivalently for placement in their first choice of engineering program in second year at UBC-V.
- For the purposes of this agreement, ENGL 229 will be considered as a complementary elective towards later engineering studies at UBC-V.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering)
The Applied Science Engineering Certificate at CNC provides a direct transfer into second-year Engineering at the University of Victoria. The following conditions apply:
- ENGR 130 - Introduction to Professional Practice must be completed by all students in the program soon after they begin in a UVic Engineering Program
- This transfer agreement features guaranteed admission into the second year of one of the Bachelor of Engineering programs for students who have successfully completed all of the courses in the program with a minimum UVIC GPA of C+ (or UVic 3.0) and who have no courses transferable to a UVic Engineering program with a grade less than a C.
- Students accepted under this agreement will compete on an equal footing with UVic students for placement in their chosen engineering program.
Active from 2020/21
This program provides two direct transfer pathways into the SFU Schools of Engineering Science, the SFU School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, and the SFU School of Sustainable Energy Engineering: Assured Admission and Competitive Admission.
The following conditions apply:
- Applicants from both pathways must meet the general SFU English language and quantitative admission requirements.
- Admission into the Assured Admission pathway is limited to domestic students. International students are eligible for the Competitive Admission pathway which is dependent on the availability of international student seats at SFU within the School of Engineering Science, the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, and the School of Sustainable Energy Engineering.
- If the Assured Admission Program GPA required on the pathway courses in CNC's program is higher than the current CGPA cutoff for external transfer students transferring into SFU Faculty of Applied Sciences, students may be admitted via the assured pathway based on the current CGPA cutoff for external transfer students.
Assured Admission Pathway
To qualify for Assured Admission students must have a GPA of at least 2.75 on the required pathway courses (calculated by using the best attempt for each course) and an overall CGPA of 2.75 on any transferable coursework from all post-secondary institutions attended (calculated using the best attempt for each course). All credits must be obtained within 16 months. In addition, students must meet a minimum course load of 12 credits for at least two terms while enrolled in CNC's program.
Students who were required to withdraw or were not in good academic standing upon leaving a former post-secondary institution, or who were formerly in a Faculty of Applied Sciences program at SFU, are not eligible for consideration under the Assured Admission Pathway.
The School of Engineering Sciences:
- Provides a minimum of 10 seats for the assured admission pathway (for all the common first year engineering programs combined). If more than 10 applications are received in a given year, seats will be allocated on a competitive basis based on CGPA.
The School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering:
- Provides a minimum of 10 seats for the assured admission pathway (for all the common first year engineering programs combined). If more than 10 applications are received in a given year, seats will be allocated on a competitive basis based on CGPA.
The School of Sustainable Energy Engineering:
- Provides a minimum of 10 seats for the assured admission pathway (for all the common first year engineering programs combined). If more than 10 applications are received in a given year, seats will be allocated on a competitive basis based on CGPA. All applicants are required to submit a supplemental application which will be reviewed by the School of Sustainable Energy Engineering and SFU's Student Recruitment and Admission Office.
Competitive Admission Pathway
Students enrolled in CNC's program who either do not meet the assured admission pathway criteria or are outside of it's 10 seat allocation (for all the common first year engineering programs combined) may be eligible to enter the SFU School of Engineering Science, the SFU School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, or the SFU School of Sustainable Energy Engineering based on existing Canadian college/university transfer criteria for admission (24 credits of transferable coursework, which must include the courses specified for Canadian college/university transfer into the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the respective Schools) found on the SFU Admission website.
Students must also meet the competitive admission GPA requirement for the Faculty of Applied Sciences for the term in which they are applying for admission to SFU.
Students applying for the SFU School of Sustainable Energy Engineering will also be required to submit a supplemental application. Information regarding the supplemental application may be found on the SFU Admissions Website.
Bridging Courses
The Faculty of Applied Sciences at SFU requires no additional content for transfers excluding the following caveats for progressing into the following Schools:
The School of Engineering Sciences: Requires students to successfully complete:
- ENSC 120 - Introduction to Electronics Laboratory Instruments Operation and measurement Techniques at its earliest scheduled date at SFU for degree progression
- ENSC 180 - Introduction to Engineering Analysis by no later than their 3rd year level of studies at SFU, and prior to enrolling in ENSC 380.
The School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering: Requires students to successfully complete:
- MSE 100 - Engineering Graphics and Design by no later than their 3rd year level of studies at SFU, and prior to enrolling in MSE 320.
- MSE 110 - Mechatronics Design I by no later than their 3rd year level of studies at SFU, and prior to enrolling in MSE 312.
The School of Sustainable Energy Engineering: Requires students to successfully complete:
- SEE 110 - Energy, Environment and Society by no later than their 3rd year level of studies at SFU, and prior to enrolling in SEE 402
- (Effective May 2025) SEE 111 - Integrated Energy Solution I by no later than their 3rd year of studies at SFU.

Associate of Arts
Bachelor of Arts (Interdisciplinary Studies)

Students transferring into BCIT with an Associate Degree will be considered for entry into bachelor degrees or other undergraduate credentials. Transfer credit will be assessed on a program-specific basis. Students will have to meet all entrance requirements for their program.
- KPU guarantees a minimum of sixty (60) credits to be awarded on transfer to holders of Associate Degrees awarded by a BC College. Students must still meet all specific degree requirements. As KPU offers primarily applied degrees, most students will be required to complete bridging courses that will raise the number of credits needed to earn their degrees beyond the traditional 120 credits.
- BC Associate of Arts or Science degree holders will receive preference in admission, with a GPA 0.25 points less than the GPA required for regular transfer, but not less than 2.00 overall. If individually assigned transfer credit totals less than 60, the remainder will be general elective credit.
- Students transferring into UFV with an Associate Degree will receive credit for all courses in their associate degree. Courses for which no equivalent UFV course exists will be given unassigned credit at the lower-level. Students will have to meet all requirements for their degree program.
- Students with Associate Degrees of Arts or Science from a recognized College in BC, if admitted to the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science, are guaranteed a full transfer credit (60 credits) for the work done for their Associate Degree. Students must still meet all 100 and 200 level course requirements for specific degree programs (e.g., majors, honours, faculty-level course requirements) and this may require students to take more than 120 total credits to earn their degree. Students admitted with Associate Degrees must meet the competitive admission average for the program to which they apply if this average is above the published minimum.
- UNBC guarantees priority admission and full transfer credit (minimum 60 credit hours) to students transferring with an Associate of Arts or Science degree.
- Applicants who have been granted an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science from a recognized BC post-secondary institution will be granted 30 units of transfer credit* if admitted to a degree program. Note that students receiving 30 units of transfer credit for completion of the associate degree are still obliged to fulfill all prerequisites in the degree program to which they are admitted
*UVic 30 units = 60 credits at other BC institutions.
- VIU guarantees a minimum of sixty (60) credits to be awarded on transfer to holders of an Associate of Arts degree or an Associate of Science degree awarded by a BC College. Students must still fulfill all first and second-year requirements of their Bachelor's degree not already completed as part of their associate's degree.
Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees completed at any accredited BC community college will receive a block transfer of sixty (60) lower-level credits. This transfer credit may be applied towards the degree requirements of:

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science
On completion of the diploma program and Medical Laboratory Technologist Certification with the CSMLS, students are eligible to apply for degree transfer into year 3 of the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program at the University of British Columbia (UBC-V). With appropriate prerequisite work in undergraduate general science courses, it is anticipated that a time frame of less than five years full-time will allow for completion of both the CNC diploma and UBC-V BMLSc degree.
Please note that MLT diploma holders with CSMLS certification must complete the following second-year university-level prerequisite courses to be eligible for admission (equivalent transferable courses can be completed at other institutions):
- Organic Chemistry (CHEM_V 233 and 235 or CHEM_V 203, CHEM_V 213 and CHEM_V 245)
- Analytical Chemistry (CHEM_V 211) is not required but is strongly recommended for program admission.
